Business as Usual

Work has been business as usual this last week or so. There is a lot to do and it seems that everyone I talk to is staying very busy here at the plant. Most of my work has to do with meeting requirements set by federal laws, or making sure we are in compliance with everything the EPA or OSHA requires of us. I’ve learned so much in my time here and I plan on continuing my work here through the summer, and hopefully the rest of the year. There isn’t very much that I’m really allowed to say, because most of what I’m doing involves specifics that are private to the company. Which is cool in a lot of ways and keeps things interesting for me.

I’ve started looking at graduate programs this week, and the pressure really seems to be on. My professor says I need to have all my applications in by Thanksgiving, and if there’s anything I’ve learned from college it’s that seven months goes by in the blink of an eye. So far the only two programs I’m really considering are ASU and UofA, mostly because they are close to home. Regardless, this is an exciting step in my life and I’m pretty nervous about it.

My Scotland trip is only a little more than a month away! I’ve started saving my money and looking into the things I will need to pack. We will be traveling all over the country for about two weeks and part of that trip will be on something called the Jacobite train. ┬áThis train was the same one used in the Harry Potter films, but the exact engine used in the movie is no longer in use. We will also be staying in a hostel that is within walking distance of the coffee shop where J.K. Rowling wrote Harry Potter.

The semester is coming to an end and everyone at Lyon is working hard to get through it. I only need three more chemistry classes to complete my degree and will be able to graduate next spring! It really doesn’t seem like I have been in college very long at all.
